A beautiful vintage transitional cut diamond solitaire ring set in 18k white gold.
The piece is centrally set with a sparkly 4.44 carat old cut diamond, which is eight claw set securely in an open back fluted mount. The diamond is set in a raised setting, making it stand out beautifully.
What makes this ring so special is the large central diamond which is a true one-of-a-kind! What people may not know is that transitional cut diamonds are round diamonds that were cut between the 1920's and 1940's, the transition from a old cut to the modern round brilliant cut commonly seen today. They= cut is renowned for having a lower crown angle, larger table and a tiny culet, creating a different sparkle from the modern round brilliant cut diamond. Because of this, the diamond is unique itself!
The transitional cut diamond is estimated at 4.44 carats, M in colour with VS clarity. The ring is currently and UK finger size M 1/2 however can be resized for a perfect fit. The ring mount is stamped for 18k gold, London hallmarks with the date letter for 1978.
